Infant feeding has been at the heart of my work for many years. In fact, it was part of what drew me to midwifery in the first place. Over the years, I’ve continued to build my knowledge, skills and experience in breastfeeding and infant feeding, both through supporting women and babies every day, through a huge range of feeding experiences and challenges, and through further specialist education. It's an area I'm constantly researching and learning in, and one I've chosen to develop my career around.
At the core of everything I do is empowering women. I want you to feel listened to, supported and confident in your own decisions... and, perhaps most importantly, to never feel like you have to navigate feeding challenges alone.
Today, my focus is providing expert, evidence-based and individualised breastfeeding and infant feeding support. I combine specialist breastfeeding knowledge with over a decade of clinical experience to help women feel confident and supported in reaching their own feeding goals.
Breastfeeding has always been close to my heart. My own feeding journeys taught me just how important the right support is.
With my eldest, I wasn't able to continue breastfeeding in the way I'd hoped, and I carried a great deal of grief about how that journey ended. When my second baby arrived, feeding was again incredibly challenging. In the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, support was limited, and at times it felt overwhelming. Despite those challenges, we went on to breastfeed until she was almost three years old; a journey that taught me so much about perseverance, confidence and the value of compassionate support.
By the time my youngest arrived, I sought support early. Experiencing the difference that early, skilled support could make reinforced everything I already believed.
Throughout my career, I've met countless women who simply weren't prepared for what feeding might look like or didn't know where to turn when challenges arose. So often, I've seen how a lack of timely, skilled support can make already challenging feeding journeys, even harder.
Causeway Infant Feeding was created to bridge that gap.
To me, it's all about support.
Every family deserves access to evidence-based breastfeeding and infant feeding information, compassionate care and practical guidance to help them achieve the feeding goals that are right for them.
One of the things I see most often is families beginning their feeding journey without knowing what to expect. When parents understand what's normal, feel prepared for the early days and know where to turn for support, they are often able to approach feeding with greater confidence.
My role isn't to tell you what your journey should look like; it's to listen, understand what matters to you, share my knowledge and skills and work alongside you to help you make informed choices that feel right for you and your baby. I believe good infant feeding support should leave you feeling heard, informed and confident in your own ability to feed your baby.
When I'm not working, life is wonderfully busy. Most days are a juggle between work, school runs and after-school activities. So more often than not, you'll find me on the go, with a flat white in hand and a little sweet treat.
I'm generally a pretty laid back person. But give me an interesting idea or a project and I'll happily go down a rabbit hole planning it - whether it's a holiday, a party, house decor, or an entire business idea... I love having something to plan and look forward to. And once an idea gets into my head, I love seeing where it can take me.
Above everything else, I'm mammy to three incredible children (from a grown-up to a toddler). They keep me grounded, make life endlessly interesting and are without doubt my greatest achievement.
Motherhood has shaped so much of who I am, both personally and as professionally. It has taught me patience, resilience and the importance of trusting in yourself, and it continues to teach me something new every day.
